Sean Canty is a founding principal of Office of III. Sean has a wide range of experience from designing single-family homes to cultural buildings. His research interests in issues of type and geometry are situated in looking at the fetishization of surface and interior as they relate to public space and commerce in an urban context. Recent research includes explorations in figure and abstraction in which solids are transformed through formal syntaxes of torquing, obliquity and distortion, confounding the reading of space and figure. These ideas are tied to research in the picturesque in which movement becomes a means for aesthetic investigation. Sean graduated in 2014 with an M.Arch II from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design after receiving his B.Arch from California College of the Arts in 2012.
